go and tell jesus...

Hebrews 2:17-18

     These verses tell us the reason for the Incarnation of Christ. In His humanity, He suffered and was tempted in all things, that He might understand our circumstances and experiences. It was in His incarnation that He became man in order to identify with man, yet without sin. Because of this, He has become our merciful and faithful Intercessor fully capable of coming to our aid in any situation. He is our very present help in time of need (Ps. 46:1).
    Because our lives are comprised of both burdens and blessings, we find ourselves at times, needing someone who understands our situation. There are times, however, that there seems to be no one who cares or no one with whom we might share our heartaches. It is at such times we must remember that we can always tell Jesus.
    At the wedding in Cana of Galilee (John 2), when they ran out of wine, Mary told Jesus.
When Lazarus fell ill, his sisters sent word and told Jesus (John 11). When John the Baptist was beheaded by Herod, the disciples of John attended to his burial and then went and told Jesus (Matt. 14:12). When Peter’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, they went and told Jesus (Mark 1:30).  When Pilate shed the blood of a group of Galilean worshippers (Luke 13:1), there were those who told Jesus. When some Greeks came to worship sought Jesus (John 12:20-22), they inquired concerning Him, Philip told Andrew and they went together and told Jesus.
    Why? Because they had learned that whatever the circumstance might be, they could confide in Jesus. Why should we have confidence in telling Jesus what concerns us? Because He cares as 1 Peter 5:7 reads, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”KJV And because He understands being called “a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief” (Isa. 53:3). We may tell Jesus because He is ever near promising “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” (Heb. 13:5). He is our intercessor, our great High Priest, ever living to make intercession for us!
    So, when you feel that no one cares, He does. When you feel no one understands, He does. When you think you have no one to talk to…go and tell Jesus!
 
   Elisha Hoffman, during a pastoral visit spoke to one of his parishioners who had many sufferings. During the visit, she asked him what she should do. He replied, “You cannot do better than to take all your sorrows to Jesus…”. “Yes,” she replied, “I must tell Jesus!” Upon reaching his study, he penned the words to the hymn entitled, “I Must Tell Jesus”.  Surely, we must! Take a moment and sing a verse or two of this great old hymn of the faith.
