one mediator...

1Timothy 2:5-6
     Most churchgoers are somewhat familiar with the account of the sufferings of Job, the man who, though he lost everything, still maintained his faith in God. He did not understand "why", and he often asked for an explanation, still he remained steadfast (Job 13:15). We read in Job 9:33 that he desired a 'daysman' between himself and God. "that might lay his hand upon us both." A daysman was a judge, an arbitrator, someone who intervened to reconcile opposing persons, a mediator.
    The Bible tells us that we have such a one in Jesus Christ, calling Him not "a" mediator,as 'one among many', but "The mediator". This uniqueness is emphasized in Heb 8:6, identifying Christ as 'the mediator of a better covenant'; in Heb 9:15 as 'the mediator of the new testament', and in Heb 12:24 as 'the mediator of the new covenant".
    Christ is the only one who stretched out one hand to God on behalf of sinful man, the other to Mankind on behalf of a holy God and reconciled the two by His shed blood on the cross. Not only did He reconcile God with Man on earth by providing salvation for 'whosoever will believe in Him', but He continues this intercession in Heaven before the Throne of God, 'seeing He everliveth to make intercession for them." (Heb. 7:25).
      That which He began on Earth (Heb 5:7-8), He continues in Heaven (1John 2:1)!
