Jeremiah was in prison because of his preaching. But God had spoken to him words of encouragement (Jere. 39:15-18). When the enemy overran the city of Jerusalem, Nebuzaradan gave orders concerning Jeremiah that he be set free. He las "loosed...this day from the chains which were upon (his) hands (vs 4). Jeremiah was fee to go "whither it seemed good and convenient".
How liberating it is to know that we have been set free from the prison house of despair which was brought on us by sin's penalty and now, through faith in Christ, have been given liberty.
