Psalm 107:23 30 & Mark 4:37-41
Here in the Sandhills of Nebraska storms are not uncommon. In both winter and in Summer, they move quickly across the country leaving snow or rain in the wake of strong winds. Storms are unavoidable, but we learn to cope with them. The first step is to take heed of the warnings, the second is to make necessary preparations based on the warnings and then we simply 'hunker down and let 'er blow over', trusting that our preparations have been adequate. Spiritual storms come into our lives as well, sometimes arising with little warning. As with the physical storms, our Lord is in control and teaches us how we can make preparations. As we prepare for physical storms, so we also may prepare for spiritual storms by staying abreast of the warnings from His Word, make necessary and proper preparations, then having done all we can do, we trust the Lord. If we fear the storm, we simply call upon Him, who cares for us and who never leaves us alone in the storms. He will hear and calm the storms, for He is ever near. The key is to build our lives on the solid rock of HIs word as the man in Matthew 7:24-27. William C. Martin penned the inspiring words of "My Anchor Holds". Do you have such assurance in your storms? If not, why not do something about it now?
