God has proven over and over again throughout scripture and our lives that He is to be trusted as a faithful provider. However, people struggle with greed and jealousy, and are constantly craving for more in life or are dissatisfied with what they have been given. Believers are called to be content with what God has provided. If believers can learn to be content, God has promised to give them a good life.

The 9th commandment reveals the high value God places on speaking the truth. However, people today struggle to even come close to valuing truth in how they speak, but also how they live. That is why God says, “Don’t just stop lying, but seek to live in and speak truth in all circumstances.” People should seek to replace the bad behaviors in their lives with good behaviors to show the world that they belong to God, because when people speak the truth, it will produce trust and unity within the body of Christ. God commanded His people not to steal because He wanted them to trust in His goodness and generosity. However, people tend to take things into their own hands and often don’t rely on God to provide for them. But God promises that if they do trust him to provide, He will provide everything they need. God values the biblical institution of marriage and despises adultery. Jesus understands lust, which occurs in the heart and mind, to be the same thing as adultery. Unfortunately, people struggle to overcome the temptation of lust and adultery that is seemingly overwhelmingly present in our culture. However, Jesus instructs us to take drastic and necessary steps to avoid these temptations in our lives at all costs. But even when we fail, God has offered us forgiveness for our past, present, and future sins, and He encourages us to live a life free from sin. In the sixth commandment, we see God’s value for human life. However, humans often allow their emotions to control their actions in negative ways that don’t honor God’s command to love one another. Jesus said that when believers love their brothers and sisters in Christ, they will please God and prove that they belong to Him. |
