Donald Eugene Hamilton, 79, of Gordon, Nebraska, passed away January 18, 2023.
Don was born on August 4, 1943, to Ray and Arline Hamilton in Minneapolis, MN. He spent his first 14 years in the Alma, Nebraska area, then the family moved to Colorado where he met his future wife, Leona Champlin in 1958. Don graduated from Montrose High School in Montrose, CO, in 1962. From the age of 13 he spent his summers at his Grandpa Oliver’s ranch near Ellsworth, Nebraska.
Don and Leona were married in 1963 and went on to have two children, Sloan (Colleen) Hamilton, and Laura (Scott) Berndt. They were blessed with three grandsons, Nolan (Olaire) Hamilton, Tucker (Rebecca Harris) and Zane Hamilton.
Don was drafted to the Army in 1965, and served in Vietnam, from 1966 to 1967. He was honorably discharged in 1967.
Don and Leona lived the last forty-two years ranching on part of the old Oliver home place. In 2014, they retired and moved to Gordon, where Don enjoyed riding his Harley, cleaning many firearms, and spending time with his Rottweiler.
Don was preceded in death by his father Ray, and his mother Arline. He is survived by his wife Leona, his two children and their spouses, three grandsons and spouses, and two great-granddaughters, Finley Noelle and Olaya Don.
Don was affectionately known to many as simply, Pa.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 17th 2023 at 10:00am at the Bible Baptist Church in Gordon, Nebraska.
Burial will take place at the Alliance Veterans Cemetery in Alliance, Nebraska following a lunch at provided by Bible Baptist Church.
A time of fellowship will follow the burial at Pleasant Point Community Church. Desserts and coffee with be provided.
