God commanded His people not to steal because He wanted them to trust in His goodness and generosity. However, people tend to take things into their own hands and often don’t rely on God to provide for them. But God promises that if they do trust him to provide, He will provide everything they need.

God values the biblical institution of marriage and despises adultery. Jesus understands lust, which occurs in the heart and mind, to be the same thing as adultery. Unfortunately, people struggle to overcome the temptation of lust and adultery that is seemingly overwhelmingly present in our culture. However, Jesus instructs us to take drastic and necessary steps to avoid these temptations in our lives at all costs. But even when we fail, God has offered us forgiveness for our past, present, and future sins, and He encourages us to live a life free from sin. In the sixth commandment, we see God’s value for human life. However, humans often allow their emotions to control their actions in negative ways that don’t honor God’s command to love one another. Jesus said that when believers love their brothers and sisters in Christ, they will please God and prove that they belong to Him. God values honor, order, and authority when it comes to the parent-child relationship. However, parents often fail to be worthy of honor, and children fail to fully obey God’s command. But God expects parents to reflect His character to their children, and children must honor and obey their parents in return. Because both are promised a long, full life when if they listen to God’s instructions. God values hard work and rest, and modeled those values for people in the creation story. However, people often struggle to find a healthy balance between work and rest. In the Old Testament, God instructed people to dedicate a day of rest to the LORD their God. But now, people are to find their rest in the completed work of Christ on the cross. Jesus promises that those who come to Him will be given rest! God wants His name to be known and expects it to be respected and honored. However, people tend to diminish God’s name, which diminishes His glory and worthiness. But, believers should not misue God’s name because they’re promised to one day experience the fully glory of God and worship His name in His presence. In our current culture, people worship all kinds of things. However, God is a jealous God and wants us to worship Him exclusively. But because God is also a loving God, if people would simply love and obey Him, then God promises that He will lavish His blessings on them for generations. God desires to be the top priority in everyone’s life, and yet, people often prioritize “other gods” instead. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, believers must always put God first by obeying His commands because of the salvation they’ve received through Jesus’ work on the cross. #10Commandments HE IS RISEN! Hallelujah! Jesus was willing to take on the intense agony of God’s judgment of humankind’s sin because He wanted to finish the story that began in the Garden of Eden and restore the personal, intimate relationship between God and people. When the relationship between God and humanity was broken because of sin, God never stopped pursuing humanity to redeem and restore that relationship to what it was before sin. |
